Hilary Wehner Interview

This week, Team 007, interviewed Hilary Wehner. Hilary is a member of the RWU Pep Band, performs in the Sunday Mass, and wrote the new Roger Williams University fight song. She has been playing Clarinet for over twelve years and hopes to continue for many more.

Difficulties in this shoot:

1. The Lighting: I was shooting in the afternoon and had to find a good spot on campus to shoot the footage. I walked around looking for a room that was open with good sized windows so I could get natural light into the shot. I finally found where I wanted to shoot, in the New Academic Building on campus. As you will see in the video the light comes in lightly, but theres no other sounds and there's a solid color behind her.

2. Finding the person: Since we were late finding the person for this weeks shoot, I scurried and found someone through the music department. Luckily, I heard back from her before the deadline.

3. Using Two Cameras: I decided to use two cameras to increase my angles in the clip. I ended up only using the two angles in the performance and next time I do an Interview I will know that's all I really need them for.

4. Editing: This was a nightmare. I took the footage at over four minutes long and condensed it into a one minute and thirty second package. I first made separate videos of each of her performances, then I edited the interview down, then I synced the performance over her interview. Both the interview and the performance have motion techniques put into the shoot in post processing.

5. The lack of a team: I shouldn't wine about this because they both made an effort on Tuesday night to come down after their duties and supported this story. It was difficult planning the interview, writing the memo, shooting the interview with the client, and then editing the video. I would say that this whole process took about 8 to 10 hours this week. Its disappointing things couldn't of worked out better, so that I wouldn't have to carry the load. But, I'm sure both of them will make it up to me with next weeks package. I still think highly of both of them and we will continue to make excellent news.

Outlook:
Next week, Team 007 will have another exciting news package. So check back for more!
