Assignment: McKenzie Interview

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of interviewing Professor Brett McKenzie about his new Smart Car.

According to Howstuffworks.com: "With gas prices at historic highs in the United States and fuel-efficient cars in vogue, the time might be perfect for DaimlerChrysler to introduce the Smart Car to U.S. markets. Already popular in Europe, the Smart Car is small in stature but big on economy. The updated Smart Fortwo (named because it's "for two" people) is ready for release in 2008, so we could be seeing a lot more Smart Cars on the road in the near future."

Note: Since the first posting of that HowStuffWorks article, Smart Car is now solely owned by Mercedes.

Professor McKenzie recently purchases his Smart Car and has been the talk of the campus ever since. Below is my one on one interview with Brett McKenzie about his small vehicle that's been turning quite a few heads.

Interview

Recently, we were assigned to do a interview of someone we knew about various topics. I choose one of my roommates and quickly through together an interview on the future of Hi def media and most importantly Blu-Ray. With Blu-Ray officially winning the format war today, this can also be the first of many videos that show the HD DVD death kneel. Below is a quick segment of the interview. Check back later this week for the full segment.

Later this week did not happen. Actually it was finished today. Enjoy the final result.

Assignment 1: Show and Tell Completed

This is a video of my Mac Book Pro. After finally getting Final Cut to work in the Mac Lab, we started using it to fix our projects. After initial problems, I was able to get a handle on it and below is my first completed video. I believe that this is probably as final as it's going to get but I'd rather refer to this version as the only stable build because I believe there could be more work done to the footage. Enjoy.

Assignment 1: Show and Tell

Over the past weekend I was giving the task of filming something of value to me for a show and tell segment. It was difficult deciding what to do and how I could possibly keep anyone interested for even three minutes. I struggled taking the eight or so minutes I ended up recording. At first I kept getting nervous in front of the camera and forgetting what I was trying to emphasize during my video. I ended up shooting the video as a review for the Apple Mac Book Pro. I hope it comes out alright after editing because I've always been interested in reviews and this is my first chance to maybe show others what I know about technology. We were supposed to edit the video in class last Tuesday, but we ran into problems that will hopefully be resolved when we meet again on Thursday.

Below is a short segment of video I took for the assignment. Check it out.

Outside in the cold

Last Thursday we went outside as a class and started to work with the cameras. While most of the students were unprepared, including myself, we all seemed to get a feel for the camera. We found how far away someone has to stand in order the shot to be seen correctly. Also during some of the shoot it was kind of windy showing us that the microphone inside the Flip Video Ultra is very sensitive and to be wary of the wind when recording. All in all it was a quick introduction to shooting with the camera.
